The Lotus Temple, designed by Iranian architect Fariborz Sahba, was consecrated in December 1986
The lotus temple is a big white marble building. It's more than 130 feet tall and sits on a high platform surrounded by beautiful gardens and pools. The paths around the pools are made of red sandstone.
The Lotus Temple, like many others, is designed with nine sides. This design reflects the Bahāʾī faith's deep respect for the number nine(9).
